Meeting of the Matriarchs with Susan Jones

  • Women Hold the Key @ the Synergy Center for Women (map)

What does is mean to be a Matriarch (self-identified and not contingent on rearing children) in the world of today?

How can we as elders of our communities support others?

How do we use our honed skills in leadership, our inherent wisdom, our nurturing, empathy and resilience to support both ourselves and others?

It starts with communication.

We’ll gather, listen to each other and forge new path’s forward as individuals and in groups.

Statement of Intents and Agreements for the Matriarch Group of Women Hold the Key

Statement of Intents:

  • Explore the meaning and responsibility of being a Matriarch in our society today.

  • We focus on depth of connection, personal growth, support others in the group, and feel supported, being cared for, being open and trusting in the safety of the group which can accommodate a ‘come as we are today’

  • We listen with curiosity and compassion

  • Each participant feels connected, seen, heard, included, valued

  • We respect each other’s privacy, are honest and kind in our communication, and show empathy for others who may or may not be open to sharing

  • Our space is sacred, focused on the universal humanity in each of our participants

Agreements:

  • Have a mutually agreed upon theme at the group’s request, otherwise the conversation will develop organically as we share

  • Agree that only one person will speak at a time, and each of the rest of us will listen and pause before speaking

  • Agree to keep politics as an off the table discussion (Women Hold the Key is a non-profit organization and may not engage in politics) {Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.}

  • This group is not designed to hold space for individual therapy or exploration of individuals needs that may be better suited for one-on-one communication.
